Audrey Justine Tautou, a French actress and model, rose to fame internationally with her role as a timid exaggerated waitress that won numerous prizes in the romance comedy Amelie. Tautou has been compared with Audrey Hepburn, due to the combination of elegance, charismatic performance as well as her talents. A pretty dark-haired, beautiful girl born into a family of intellectuals was not likely to choose acting for a profession. Her father works as dental surgeon and her mother a teacher. She was born in France and was in a variety of French films before making the film that made her Hollywood debut in The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
